With Luftgekühlt coming up this weekend, we thought it would be topical to talk about one of our favorite race cars of all time: the Porsche 917. With 600 horsepower on tap to move just 1760 pounds, its easy to see how these were able to sprint up to, and slow down from, 200+ mph all day long at Le Mans. The slowing down part we’re certain was terrifying with 1970s brake technology, big 12-inch rotors or not.
