Update: EVO Drives the Porsche 911 Targa 4S

Cars, Reviews I By Bradley Iger I April 09, 2014
Tiff Needell takes the new Porsche semi-convertible around the Italian countryside while trying to decide whether or not the extra girth – and price – are justified in the name of partially open top 911 motoring.

Piloting a top-spec Targa 4S equipped with Porsche’s acclaimed seven-speed manual gearbox, Tiff is quick to point out what works – the 3.8-liter flat six engine out back, the sport exhaust system, the electrically-assisted steering, and the excellent ride quality. He’s also not bashful about the elements that aren’t as welcome either, which include the added 430 pounds of high-centered weight, the 40% bump in asking price and, curiously, the all wheel drive system, which Tiff considers to be "an extra 50kg of weight that you don’t really need."

When all is said and done, Tiff considers whether the 911 Targa 4S would be his weapon of choice for an open top sports car, and decides he’d probably prefer something "a little more British". Somehow we’re unsurprised. Have a look at the video below for the full review, and don’t forget to check out the Porsche 911 Targa overview page for the latest information as we have it.
