Viewpoint: How To Fix Racing

Periodically, we present thoughts from a racer, an official or a team leader on how to make racing better. This week, we have a blog from Stefan Johansson that appeared on Racer.com.

Stefan is passionate that things must change, as are most commentators on the subject. We note, however, that like many such writers, Johansson seems most to suggest tactical changes that would leave the sport pretty similar to the way it is. Does that suggest that really things aren't so bad? Or does it suggest that bigger changes are needed, but it is hard to think of them? At least Stefan admits he isn't completely clear on what to do. His thoughts are interesting, and even if confined to pro racing we think the discussion can be translated to amateur series as well:
