Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Race Car
At last year’s SEMA show, Dodge announced that it would be offering its first factory-prepared drag car in 40 years with Mopar’s take on the Dodge Challenger. In this short video clip, Mopar’s Rob Richard talks us through the upcoming Challenger drag race package car, and gives us just a taste of what the beastly racer will look and sound like in the heat of battle. Enjoy the show and expect more details as we get them from Mopar.

The days of the hemi packaged Dart, and Barracuda are back in the resurrection of the Challenger. Thank you ma Mopar!! If only I can get my hands on a Challenger now, I'll be in heaven.
Great look and feel to you web site. I'll be coming back.

it's so obvious that he's reading

Hopefully they give it lipo surgery. What is the SRT8? 4100 Lbs?
Nice burnout. Looks like a transbrake or launch control on the tranny.

WOW! Hondas and Mazdas! Take a picture of something everyone hasn't seen a trillion times. You're talking lipo for the Dodge. Your cars look like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen; anemic and malnourished.

Hey dude, go ahead and post your Geo Metro. Now THAT you don't see everyday.

What a joke. Ma Mopar can't get enough cars out for the dealers to stop gouging the true mopar fans ($70k+) and they are taking what little cars that could be had for joe-blow public and making more over priced rides.
There are back orders for next years models and I'll bet they will also get a good reaming from the dealers. Now, with this car is being promoted and you have no pictures of it, no engine shots or specs, no interior pics, not even info on the tires and you want us to get excited about something we can't have or get for another year? Come on now, get real. This might be a drag package, but I see it going the way of the Charger and Magnum, out of style and unwanted. Fix the problems before your loyal fans buy more Mustangs and the new Camaro (which probaly won't be limited production).
The only thing good about this is the guy it at least trying to read all the ho-hum info chrysler has put together for him.
P.S. I've owned over 40 mopar products from classic muscle cars to a New Dodge Ram, so I'm not one of the "old timers with new car grudge" spewing off hate.
Good luck, hope the Challenger dosen't get killed off.
Best wishes from the mopar faithful,
Moparts Hater
P.S. Free Layson's!

That was the DUMBEST promotion of a car ever. From numbnuts reading an unrehearsed cuecard to showing (or not showing) a crossfaded image of the car; well basically NOT showing the car. JUST PLAIN STUPID.

Don't worry about him reading the cards - he was fired 2 weeks ago. Both he and his underling were shown the door at Mopar. I wonder who may be next on the list?

Before the dart, cuda &challenger there was another factory dodge/plymouth car. Does the belvedere come to mind or how about the max wedge cars? Don't overlook the first super stocks just because the cuda/challenger & dart are better known.

The new Challenger is beautiful and now to be race track ready, brillient! I'm hoping to weight saving parts for the street out of this.To me ,that is one of the greatest needs for me,a future challenger owner.

I purchased the 2008 Challenger SRT-8 because it was suppose to be the fastest production car on the market and a jewel of a ride. Ha Ha ,,,that was funny,,,,the car has no guts out of the hole at all,,sure it rides good and handles ok but it is not what they pump it up to be,,, now if you want to ride a 1 mile track or something then you may be ok. I was very disappointed and unhappy after $50,000

Kenny P...I think your feeling stupid for paying 50K for a 40K car and taking it out on the car. You must be one of those who have to be the first to own a new product, or go to a new resturaunt or see the movie first. I ordered a new Challenger in Galena at invoice. Every option available and 8K less than yours. If it is anything like the SRT8 Charger I test drove, I'll be impressed.
