Alonso Says He’s Not Frustrated with Renault Form

Despite persistent rumors about his joining forces with Ferrari, and his team’s lack of pace in the early going, Renault’s Fernando Alonso insists that he isn’t frustrated by less than stellar results in the first two races of the season.

While Alonso managed a fourth place finish in the crash-riddled Australian Grand Prix, he struggled to eighth at last weekend’s Malaysian race. That finish had the Spanish driver talking about the superiority of the Ferrari cars, and many pundits guessing that an early exit from Renault was in the cards.

I don't think it matters this year. My understanding is that next year the formula will require new cars from the ground up except for the engines and universal ecu's. I doubt that they will get the car running much better this year, but they may be competitive with the new car in 2009.

Pocky Is God

This year they will not be better than the mid-field they have been getting thus far. Their car is an evolution of the 2007 bore fest and Flavio has already admitted as such. They will continue their pace and 2009 will be when they will reach competitiveness again. Which should be great; 4 teams with very competent drivers all slugging it out will make for very exciting racing.
