Video Camera for Motorsports

I'm looking at several video cameras for track training. Besides various overlays (or not), I notice that Field of View is a big difference:
GoPro HD Hero2: 170 degrees or 127 degrees or 90 degrees
DataToys AV-HD: "up to" 170 degrees
AIM Smartycam: 64 degrees or 87 degrees
ChaseCam: not specified
Does anyone have experience with which FOV(s) is/are optimal? I can see that super wide FOV might be cool on playback, but my impression is that you might see less of the track and get a distorted sense of your line?
