Frequently Asked Questions

What is Automatic?
Automatic is an application created by Winding Road to automatically download the latest version of the digital magazine. Once Automatic is installed, your new issues will automatically download into a folder on your computer.

When does Automatic download the current issue?
The latest issue of Winding Road is automatically downloaded to your PC as soon as it becomes available, usually around the first of the month.

Why do I need Automatic?
Automatic downloads the latest issue of Winding Road for you. As you continue using Automatic, you'll build up an archive of past issues in PDF format that will always be available for reference. The PDF files of past issues are removed from the Winding Road's website once a new issue is posted, so with Automatic you'll always have the PDF files of past issues.

What about my privacy?
In order for you to receive the latest issue of Winding Road through Automatic some anonymous information is sent over the internet.  No personally identifiable information is collected at any time.  We only collect anonymous information about the use of the program, so that we can work to better it in the future.  In no way is any other part of your computer or your use of the computer monitored by Automatic.  You can easily uninstall Automatic at any time through the Windows Add/Remove Programs tool.

Does Automatic make changes to my computer?
When you install Automatic, a folder is created on your computer.  This folder will hold the data for the Automatic.  Also, an icon will appear on the lower right part of your desktop to allow quick access to Automatic.

How does it work?
Automatic runs in the background on your computer and periodically checks to see if a new issue has been published. When a new issue is available, the application automatically downloads the latest issue in PDF format.  Once the download is complete, Automatic will display a message to you that the latest issue is now available.

What are the system requirements?
Automatic is compatible with Windows XP  You will need to use Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher and have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.  Automatic is not currently available for Macs.
