Winding Road Video: 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR – POV Test Drive

Reviews I By Brandon Turkus I February 27, 2013
The composition of the press fleets that we borrow cars from is surprisingly static from year to year. It’s safe to say that there’ll be a Mazda MX-5 Miata, in Grand Touring trim, with the folding metal roof in Mazda’s press fleet each year. Likewise, Mitsubishi can always be trusted to drop an Evo in the fleet. Generally, it’s an MR (or some variation thereof), that utilizes the excellent SST dual-clutch transmission.

Not this year, though, as we were offered a turn in a rare Evo GSR, complete with the old-school five-speed manual transmission. It had all the important bits, like the revvy, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, but the addition of a third pedal changes the Evo’s equation considerably. Join us as we take it for a spin in our latest POV test drive.
