Winding Road Video: 2013 BMW M5

Reviews I By John Beltz Snyder I July 22, 2013
This video from Mulitmedia Editor Chris Amos stars the crowd-pleasing BMW M5 equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. This video gives an up-close look at the car from all angles, then takes us behind the wheel for a point-of-view test drive.

Its 4.4-liter turbo V-8 produces a beefy 560 horsepower. The car can definitely handle that much brawn, as long as the driver can. We found tooling around town to be a bit difficult, as the clutch pedal resembles more of an on/off switch, with little in the way of a progressive feel to it. At low speeds, it takes some getting used to. At high speeds, it makes for some fast, fun footwork.

Beyond that, it’s a pleasure to drive, as you’ll probably be able to gather from the video. It is stable, good to steer, and not punishing on the driver (except maybe this squeaking of the brakes). It’s not an overly loud car, but the sonic profile is entertaining, and very much in the language of BMW.

Check out the video below (we recommend headphones), and feel free to browse all the other great car videos on our YouTube Channel.
