Nissan will sell a GT-R Special Edition in limited quantities in the US, with a hand-painted Midnight Opal paintjob.
For $6000 tacked on to the price of a GT-R Premium (a total of $106,590 with destination charges), the car gets the special paint color, hyper-titanium colored Rays wheels, a dry carbon fiber spoiler, and a gold-plated serialized plaque in the engine compartment. The price also includes exclusivity: only 50 examples of the Midnight Opal GT-R will be sold in the US, with just 100 being sold worldwide.
According to Nissan, the Midnight Opal paint is highly reflective, and can appear deep purple to deep blue depending upon the angle from which it is viewed.
The GT-R is powered by a biturbocharged 3.8-liter V-6, providing 545 horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque. Drive settings, including transmission, suspension, and VDC adjustability, are switchable via the cockpit with three settings: Normal, Special, and R.
