Rumors: Model News — Next-Generation Hyundai Genesis Models Could Get A Turbocharged V-6

Dedicated Hyundai news website HyundaiBlog is reporting that the next generation Hyundai Genesis Coupe and Genesis sedan could feature a turbocharged version of the company's 3.8-liter V-6 engine. That engine currently makes 348 horsepower in the 2013 Gensis Coupe, and 333 horspower in the Genesis Sedan in naturally aspirated form, so the potential for hefty numbers and impressive performance from a blown version is properly exciting. The current Coupe is a gem of a car, but needs to have its engine revved out to maximize its power. The thought of a turbocharger and a few more ponies under the hood has us daydreaming about some drool-worthy comparison tests.
The 2012 SEMA show kicked off yesterday and Hyundai is bringing two Genesis Coupe models to the show—along with their exciting Velocity concept—and is using the show as a platform to gauge consumer reaction to new engine options in future cars as well. At this point there are no firm plans for a turbocharged V-6, so stay tuned for future updates on this exciting rumor.
