Chevrolet Sheds Light On Corvette Stingray Power Figures

News I By Brandon Turkus I May 28, 2013
If you’ve been reading our coverage of the seventh-generation Corvette, you’ll have no doubt noticed that the 450 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque have merely been estimates of the car’s production output.

There won’t be anymore estimates, at least when it comes to horsepower and torque. The C7 Stingray will pack 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, all while netting an estimated 26 miles per gallon on the freeway. That’s a healthy 25-horsepower and 36-pound-foot increase over the C6’s 6.2-liter V-8.

If you opt for the performance exhaust system, you’ll see bumps of five horsepower and pound-feet, respectively, along with what is probably a much throatier sound.

While we’ve got the finalized power figures, Chevy is still being coy on actual performance numbers (top speed, 0-60, and the like). According to the press release, the C7 should hit 60 in “less than four seconds.”
